Articulated directions

Walking home through St Albans small city centre last night at about 10pm on the way home from an average Italian (Sazio's, 58 High Street, 3 and half stars out of 5) there was an interesting sight: an articulated lorry had stopped at a junction, hazard lights flashing, while its driver asked - sorry, shouted - for directions to a couple of bleached-blonde, short-skirted, thigh-booted girls, a little worse for wear. They shouted back, over the chug of the engine, complete with wild arm actions and prophesies of one-way cul-de-sac doom if the driver did not follow their advice precisely.

Well, they are local, I thought. No one from Watford would know about how to get around the back of St Peters' Street to the BHS loading bay.

Nice to see some locals supporting the evening economy mid-week.
